Roadmap to ICASA

The largest HIV/AIDS, STIs, TB, Malaria, and health systems strengthening conference in Africa (ICASA) is happening from 3 – 8 December 2025. The Coalition for Children Affected by AIDS is delighted to share with you the activities from our members and network.

Pre-Conference

  • GNP+ is launching their PLHIV Integration report.
  • ViiV Healthcare: The Key Populations Pre-Conference, uniting African community leaders, advocates, and partners to strategize sustainable, community-led responses and amplify voices in the fight to end AIDS, TB, and malaria across the continent, 2 December 08h30 – 17h00 at the Conference Centre.

3 December

  • GNP+ is hosting an Integration Workshop. Details to follow.
  • Y+ Global and UNITED! Movement are hosting a session: Reimagining Youth-led Programming 3.0: Strengthening Capacities for Impactful HIV and SRHR Outcomes, 10.35-11am at the Youth Pre-Conference Hall.
  • The Global Equality Caucus and Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) pre-conference. A half day pre-conference focussed on supporting legislators to advance HIV and SRHR within domestic health agendas. The GEC will also be sharing its HIV prevention handbook for legislators, 12.45 – 14.55 at the Conference Centre.
  • UNFPA, UNITED! ROJAF & RAJ+ are hosting an event on: Capacity building on Advocacy, 12.30-2.30pm in one of the meeting rooms.
  • Y+ Global: Youth Gate Zimbabwe and READY are hosting a session on: Building local capacity for youth advocacy at 1.15pm.
  • ViiV Healthcare Positive Action and the Paediatric Breakthrough Partnership (PBP), PATA and Aidsfonds: Delivering Sustainable, Integrated HIV Care Through Clinic, Community, and District Collaboration: A PBP Model of Resilience and Partnership, 14:45 – 15:30pm, Prof Souleymane Mboup Room.
  • The Coalition for Children Affected by AIDS has produced a short film entitled: Why Sustainable Financing Matters. The film showcases frontline health-workers, strategic leaders and advocates experiences of the funding cuts. This will be shown at 15.30 after the Breakthrough Partnership Satellite Session.

4 December

  • PATA and IAS Satellite: Addressing social and structural barriers that hinder access to vertical transmission prevention services, 8.45-9.30am in the Prof. Souleymane Mboup Room.
  • NYP+ Tanzania and READY are hosting a session on Enhancing Retention of HIV Services Among AYPLHIV in Dar es Salaam Through Community-based Youth Outreach Amid PEPFAR Assistance Disruption, 11.35-11.55am.
  • PATA and READY have a poster presentation: Decentralising healthcare provider technical assistance and mentoring in adolescent HIV care, treatment and support, at 11.35-11.55am in the poster presentation space.
  • WACAR UN Agencies, ROJAF, RAJ+ and UNITED! are hosting a Youth Community Leadership Mechanism (YCLM) Satellite Session: Voices of Change; Youth-led Innovations in HIV through Youth-led Monitoring and Maternal Health for Pregnant Adolescents and Young Women: Program Experiences and Best Practices in West and Central Africa, 11.55am – 12.40pm in the Dr. Pierre Mpele room.
  • PATA and UNAIDS Satellite session; Moving the Global Alliance Forward – Vision, Accountability, and Action beyond 2025, 3.10-3.55pm, Dr. Pierre Mpele, ICT.

5 December

  • Zvandiri, NACP Ghana, WHO and UNICEF are hosting a satellite focused on Scaling and Sustaining Peer Provider Services for ending AIDS in children and adolescents. Lessons learned from 15 African countries, 08:45-09.30, Dr Pierre Mpele Room.
  • RIATT-ESA is hosting a Satellite session titled: “Safeguarding Children and Adolescents amidst ARV Shortages and HIV-SRH Program Disruptions in Eastern and Southern Africa”. This session will take place at 08:45 am – 09:30am.
  • You(th)Care Poster Presentation: Advancing Adolescent-Responsive HIV Care Through Community-Facility-Led Partnerships in Zambia, Kenya, and Tanzania, 11.35-11.55am, poster exhibition space.

6 December

  • Y+ Malawi and READY are hosting a session: Beyond Prevention: Centering African Women in HIV Cure Research and Treatment Innovation, 9.35-11.10am.
  • UNITED!, ROJAF X and RAJ+ are hosting a satellite session: Youth-led Change: The Future of Youth Networks in Accelerating the SRHR and HIV Response in a Shifting Landscape, 3.10 -355pm in the Dr. Pierre Mpele room.
  • AWPCAB and ASWA, in partnership with ViiV Healthcare are hosting The CHOICE Satellite. the satellite will spotlight the urgent need for accessible, diverse HIV prevention and treatment options in Africa—championing the CHOICE Manifesto to empower women, girls, and key populations through advocacy, community engagement, and evidence-based solutions, 15.10 – 15.55pm, Grunitzky Room.

7 December

  • Y+ Global & Unitaid are hosting a Booth Takeover from 10am-12pm.
  • UNITED!, ROJAF and RAJ+ are hosting a session: Remembering those we have lost, celebrating our progress, and calling for action to end AIDS by 2030 on the main stage in the Youth Networking Zone.
  • UNITED! is hosting a session: Voices and Partnerships to Advance Health Innovation and Equity, 3.10-3.55pm in the Dr Meskerem Bekele Grunitzky Room.

8 December

  • IMPAACT4HIV has a Satellite session: The Aurum Institute: Shaping AHD Service Delivery Through Responsive Delivery Models – Early Lessons from the IMPAACT4HIV Project, 8.45-9.30am, Prof. Souleymane Mboup Room.

Other Sessions and Activities

Aidsfonds

Through their HandsOff project some partners are active including
SASWA who has several activities including:
  • A Pre-conference panel session about involvement and engagement of YSW in SRHR HIV programming.
  • Booth sessions in collaboration with ASWA
  • A Pathfinder poster presentation: Community-led monitoring as a sustained response to prevent stigma and discrimination among sex workers in Mozambique

Vibrant Young Voices Consortium

The Vibrant Young Voices Consortium, which includes The Coalition for Children Affected by AIDS. GNP+, RIATT-ESA, Y+ Global, SWEAT, REPSSi and PATA, with support from Zvandiri, has launched this survey for young advocates to share their views on the impact of the funding cuts on those living with or affected by HIV. Throughout ICASA, advocates are encouraged to complete the survey.

PATA

PATA has an exhibition booth from 3 – 8 December, all day at the conference. PATA also has a story wall with IMPAACT4HIV.
