  • Aidsfonds has launched a new report entitled: Dangerously Off Track: How Funding for the HIV Response is Leaving Key Populations Behind. The report highlights how we can not end HIV , without addressing the shared barriers key populations face, in accessing HIV services. Read the report here.
  • The Global Fund is working with partners to expand access to HIV prevention, testing and treatment – and create safe spaces where young women can heal, support each other and begin to believe again in their futures.   • Friends of The Global Fight launched a new report, Principles for a Responsible Transition of American Leadership to End AIDS. Read it here.
  • UNAIDS launched its 2025 Global AIDS Update; AIDS, Crisis and the Power to Transform, which shows that the funding crisis is threatening to unravel decades of progress unless countries can make radical shifts to HIV programming and funding. Read it here.
  • The Gates Foundation just committed $200 billion over 20 years for Global Development — then announced it will close forever. Devex has produced an article on What happens when the world’s most powerful development funder sets its own expiration date? Read it here.
  • UNICEF has just launched a new global training resource, Supporting the Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing of Young Changemakers, hosted by their Adolescent Mental Health Hub and the Youth-Led Action learning community.
  • PEPFAR and The Global Fund have produced a new blog on how the two organizations—working with the government of Nigeria—have optimized resources, leveraging comparative advantages to achieve common goals. and reduced HIV infections in Nigeria by 63% since 2012. Read it here.
  • A new paper in Science Direct entitled: Understanding the burden of COVID-19 orphanhood and caregiver loss among children and adolescents living in South Africa has been published, with contributions from Dr Lorraine Sherr and Dr Lucie Cluver. Read here.
  • The Global Fund has just launched a historic youth campaign; I am the Impact. The campaign is the first-ever youth-led replenishment initiative in the Global Fund’s history. Find out more.
  • The Better Care Network is highlighting support for The Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform. While only governments and inter-governmental bodies can sign the Global Charter, civil society organisations at all levels are strongly encouraged to formally endorse it to demonstrate their support and active engagement in this global movement.   • Maternity Matters: Funding the Future — produced by Devex in partnership with MSD for Mothers — explores how public donor funding, private sector engagement, and local partnerships can help address these challenges and transform maternal health outcomes globally. Explore the series here.

Events

  • On 15 July, The Global Mental Health Action Network hosted a Community Check-In, where reflections were made on the devastating funding cuts and their ongoing impact on critical mental health services. You can access the findings from GMHAN and the Mental Health Innovation Network’s updated funding cut survey here.
  • On 20 August, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Japan Center for International Exchange (JCIE)/Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) co-organized a thematic event titled “Sustainable Health Financing in Africa: from Commitments to Action”.   • Tulip hosted a webinar on 4 September on the Impact Investment for the Global South through the Channel of FBOs. The webinar seeks to introduce the foundational concepts and practical pathways of Impact Investment. Learn more here.
  • REPSSI is hosting a series of webinars from September as they shine a light on critical issues affecting children and young people across Africa. Find out more here.
  • The African Early Childhood Network is hosting an interactive workshop on 9 September at 4pm EAT. It explores how the Childhood Cost Calculator can unlock more and better Early Childhood Care and Education financing. Register here.
  • Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) and other HIV funders hosted the U.S. HIV Philanthropy Forum on 3 September. They explored the needs of vulnerable communities, connected with likeminded leaders and discussed actionable strategies. Learn more here.
  • The next PATA REAL Webinar is on 23, September 2025 at 13:00 SAST. This is part of the quarterly series offering real-life cases from frontline healthcare providers, aimed at improving paediatric and adolescent HIV care. Register here.
